Textbook: Elementary Linear Algebra, 5th Edition, by Stanley I. Grossman.

Calculators:   Calculators are optional and will not be allowed during testing.

Homework: Suggested homework problems will be given every class day except on test days.  I should give the assigned problems at the beginning or end of every class.  If I forget you can check the assignment on the class web site under  Assignments. At the beginning of every class (except test days) I will take questions from the previous day's assignment. I urge you to do the assignments as they are given.

Tests: There will be 2 chapter exams each worth 80 points and a final worth 160 points.  Test dates will be announced in class and posted on the course calendar at least one week in advance.

Labs: Occasionally we will meet in a computer lab in Hammermill. We will investigate linear algebra problems using the software package MATLAB.  Assignments from these labs may constitute a 'take-home' portion of the exams.

Quizzes: There will be 5 quizzes throughout the semester each worth 20 points. The best 4 quizzes will count towards your grade.   NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES WILL BE GIVEN.   If you miss a quiz it will count as one of your dropped quiz grades. Quiz dates will be announced in class and posted on the course calendar at least one week in advance.

Grading:  Grades will be based on your total out of a possible 400 points (320 from exams and 80 from quizzes).  Your score will generate a grade based on the following percentages.
    A       93-100 %
    A-     90-93 %
    B+     87-90 %
    B       83-87 %
    B-     80-83 %
    C+     77-80 %
    C       70-77 %
    D       60-70 %
    F          0-60%
If your percentage falls exactly on one of the boundary values you will be given the better of the two grades.

Make-up Exams: A Make-up exam will only be given with a documented University-approved excuse.

Dishonesty: Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated and typically results in a failing grade for the class. The school's academic integrity code can be found at:  http://www.pserie.psu.edu/faculty/academics/integrity/htm .
