                        You can make an appointment to see me at other times. I am generally not available on Tuesdays. 

    Textbook: Calculus Early Transcendental Functions: 3rd Edition by Larson, Hostetler and Edwards, Published by Houghton/Mifflin. We will be covering material from Chapters 10-14.  The calendar on the course website contains general information regarding daily course content. A copy of Study and Solutions Guide Volume II is on reserve at the library under Math 230.  You may take this out for up to two hours at a time.  It contains detailed solutions for the odd numbered problems.
    Calculators:   A scientific calculator is required and a graphing calculator is strongly recommended. However, TI-89's, TI-92's, and other symbolic calculators will not be allowed during testing. If you have a Hewlett Packard calculator see me and I will let you know if it is allowed during testing.

    Homework: Suggested homework problems will be given every class day except on test days.  I should give the assigned problems at the beginning or end of every class.  If I forget you can check the assignment on the class web site under   Assignments. At the beginning of every class (except test days) I will take questions from the previous day's assignment. I urge you to do the assignments as they are given.
    Tests: There will be 4 chapter exams each worth 80 points and a final worth 160 points.  Test dates are posted (and possibly updated) in the calendar on the course website.
    Quizzes: There will be 10 quizzes throughout the semester each worth 10 points. The dates are posted in the Calendar on the class web site. The best 8 quizzes will count towards your grade.   NO MAKE-UP QUIZZES WILL BE GIVEN.   If you miss a quiz it will count as one of your dropped quiz grades.
    Grading:  Grades will be based on your total out of a possible 560 points (480 from exams and 80 from quizzes).  Your score will generate a grade based on the following percentages.  
    A       93-100 %
    A-     90-93 %
    B+     87-90 %
    B       83-87 %
    B-     80-83 %
    C+     77-80 %
    C       70-77 %
    D       60-70 %
    F          0-60%
If your percentage falls exactly on one of the boundary values you will be given the better of the two grades.
    Make-up Exams: A Make-up exam will only be given with a documented University-approved excuse.
