Prerequisite: Prerequisites: MTHBD 091, MTHBD
092, or MATH 081, MATH 082, MATH 083.
Textbook: Technical Calculus: 5th Edition by Ewen, Gary, and Trefzger. We will be covering material from Chapters 1-7. A copy of Student Solutions Manual is on reserve at the library under MTHBD 210. This contains the odd numbered problems from the text solved in detail. It may be checked out for up to two hours at a time.
Calculators: Access to a scientific or graphing calculator is strongly recommended. However, calculators will not be allowed during exams.
Tests: There will be 4 in-class exams worth 100 points each and a comprehensive final worth 200 points. Test dates will be posted on the course website and announced in class at least two weeks before the exam.
Grading: Grades will be based on your total out of a possible 700 points (600-exams, 100-homework/labs). Your score will generate a grade based on based on the following percentages.
A 93-100 %
A- 90-93 %
B+ 87-90 %
B 83-87 %
B- 80-83 %
C+ 77-80 %
C 70-77 %
D 60-70 %
F 0-60%
If your percentage falls exactly on one of the boundary values you will be given the better of the two grades.
Make-up Exams: A Make-up exam will only be given with a documented University-approved excuse.
