Title: Transmission of Euclid's Elements in the Middle Ages

Abstract

I will discuss the transmission of Euclid's Elements of Geometry in the Middle Ages. The personalities to be discussed are: Euclid, Heron, Proclus, Boethius, Simplicius, al-Hajjaj, Ishaq, Thabit, al-Nayrizi, Adelard of Bath, Hermann of Carinthia, Robert of Chester, Gerard of Cremona, John of Tynemouth, the Vienna-Bonn adaptor of Robert of Chester's version of the Elements, Albertus Magnus, Campanus of Novara.
